“Change could mean living from a belief that we can allow ourselves to access the joy available to us while also choosing to increase our neighbors’ access to joy”
kaitlin! you went to the very places the writing asked you to go to, and it shows. you are asking the questions that both complicate and enrich our living, and I am right there with you, being complicated and enriched. thank you for sharing yourself with us. 🧡
"Change could mean living from a belief that we can allow ourselves to access the joy available to us while also choosing to increase our neighbors’ access to joy. " Brought me to tears. Thank you for writing all of this. Your words resonate so deeply.
Beautiful. I felt pulled along through this. I smiled at the descriptions and held my breath to find out what you’d say next. It makes me think many things. Here’s one: What is so crazy about our current politics is that most humans want the same things and want the same things for others and can picture that happening, want it to happen, but we have different ideas of how to get there. We are not evil-vs-good, and good-vs-evil, I have to remember that most people are good people, seeing different steps to get to that “better” future. Can we stride through these weeks ahead, while friends vote this way or that, and hold onto our love for ALL of humanity? Can we accept that there exist different paths to find ways to help others, and be OK with these differences? I find strength in believing that we’re much more similar than we are different, and that it’s all good, if we can fully embrace this view. I love this piece and this Substack and this writer!! Thank you for making me feel and making me think. 🙏🏼🙏🏿🙏🏽❤️💜🩷
Stunning, my friend! Your writing is a room I don’t want to leave. These words in particular will stay with me:
“How often do I feel virtuous when what I really am is rested, fed, physically comfortable, able bodied, cared for, and emotionally secure? How often do I feel virtuous when what I really am is trained in the art of pleasing and used to being protected?”

Complicated and enriched! I wish that for us all. Thank you for every way you help me tune my ear to the questions.

What a beautiful, profound, convicting invitation you've just offered us. Thank you. Will be ruminating on these words for a long time.
Thank you, friend, for you.

So beautiful. I think I need to reread it to take it in properly. And that's a good thing!
